I've taken inspiration from Francesco Hayez's "Triptych on Revenge", a work of art as astounding as little known. In here, the masked woman is trying to push her distraught friend, Maria, to seek revenge on her cheating fiancée. In the XIX-century Venice, anyone could anonymously accuse a citizen of conspiring against the Republic by placing a letter in a lion-head-shaped stone box. This is the moment where Maria is torn between the rage and the pity for the man she once loved. She will eventually post the letter and her fiancée will be thrown in jail.
