oil on canvas, 80x80cm, 2013

I’ve represented not the art lover, the collector, but the one who buys and sells art as he does for stock quotes. It doesn’t matter what’s represented: canvases are empty frames, statues are shapeless matter. They mean money, not colours or lines. The art dealer has been put in a frame himself, but he can’t be contained: he’s a fake. In his hand there’s a painting with the names of the most overrated contemporary artists because that’s what he actually sells: a signature, not an artwork. Last but not least, his face. I’ve painted one of the most famous art dealers, Charles Saatchi, because I think he embodies everything said.
