This is by far my favourite painting, hands down. It actually pains me the idea of selling it, but, as Nicole Kidman so elegantly said in “Moulin Rouge”, a girl has got to eat. Probabily the real protagobist of this portrait is the intricate embroidery that runs on the whole arm length. It has been as eye-killing as rewarding to paint. You might have noticed that I use my face a lot. Far from being vain (rather the opposite), I simply find it less complicated than explaining someone what expression I need. Moreover this particular model never complains if I paint her nose as crooked as it really is!
